Item Description
Rhodochrosite as a species is one of the most popular minerals for collectors in the world thanks to the superb specimens from places like the Sweet Home Mine in Colorado and the N'Chwaning Mines in South Africa. With that said, there are extensive and rich Rhodochrosite deposits in Argentina, although they produce a completely different style of Rhodo. The material is not often gemmy enough for faceting stones, but it does have great color and banding patterns. This particular stone is a beautiful pink and white "Oval Cabochon" cut gem with slight translucency, and good banding showing how it grew in stalactitic formations. A classic example of these gorgeous Rhodos.
