Item Description

When it comes to contemporary Rhodochrosite crystals, the specimens from the Wutong Mine are some of the better pieces out there in terms of size, color, crystal form and gemminess. These pieces started coming out in the early 2000s, and very few of them are available on the market now. Their unique shape and enticing color makes them some of the more notable Rhodochrosite crystals from any modern locality. This piece is a rather compressed rhombic crystal with a rich reddish-pink color, free of matrix. The piece is mostly complete but one edge does have a cleave where it presumably detached from the matrix. When backlit, it has a very pleasant hue internally. If you missed out on these, don't pass this one up because the locality has produced nothing in the way of specimens in recent years.
