Red Zircon

Item Description

The fine, classic Zircon crystals from Astor, Pakistan are some of the best true red crystals of the species from any locality. A good number of the so-called "red" Zircons are more brown or orange than red, but these particular crystals from Astore are truly red. This piece is a very good sized, sharp, well-formed crystal group with a strong red hue throughout A smaller accenting Zircon crystal can be seen flaring off the back of the piece for a nice touch. The termination is in great shape, with no damage, but the entire specimen is not complete, as it's rough around the base where additional Zircons once grew, and were later split up from one another. With strong backlighting, you can see the piece has slight internal translucency, with some strong crimson hues that can be seen along the edges.
