Red Zircon

Item Description

The Zircon crystals from Astor, Pakistan are some of the best true red crystals of Zircon in the world. Lots of "red" Zircons are more brown or orange than red, but these particular crystals are truly red. This piece is a good sized, sharp, well-formed crystal with a strong red hue throughout most of the crystal, though the termination is nearly white/colorless, an unusual aspect, not often seen in this material. A smaller accenting Zircon crystal can be seen flaring off the back of the piece for a nice touch. The crystal is in good condition, but it's not complete, as there are some separation marks where additional Zircons once grew, and were later split up from one another. With strong backlighting, you can see the crystal has decent internal translucency, with some strong crimson hues that can be seen along the edges.
