Spinel is one of those gems that comes in a great range of colors. Most people are familiar with the Ruby Spinels, for their eye-catching color. This gem is an attractive, good sized, VVS, deep red color, "Oval" cut gemstone. This gem has a very attractive hue and the clarity is certainly better than many of the Spinels on the market today. It is difficult to find superb quality Spinels, because of political upheaval (and the effect of the pandemic) in southeast Asia. PLEASE NOTE: Between the COVID pandemic, and political upheaval in Myanmar, mining hasn't taken place, and the market at Mogok is shut down. It's a good idea to buy this gem now because they will likely be going up in price moving forward, even the tiny amount that has trickled out of Myanmar in the past year has been notably higher in price than a few years ago.
