Red Quartz (scepters)

Item Description

A really attractive piece of the well-known "red" Quartz specimens from the Orange River area. Obviously the crystals are coated with Hematite (or some other kind of iron oxide), and the effect is dazzling. The Orange River area in South Africa is well known for these specimens, along with a few others like green Fluorite, and I never grow weary of them. This specimen was collected about 10 years ago. The piece is in good shape for the size, as most of the crystals are pristine, especially the predominant scepter habit crystal flaring off the piece. Some of the smaller crystals are nearly GEM quality / transparent and show a really cool orange-red hue.
