Red Quartz (iron-included) (ex Charlie Key Collection)

Item Description

A classic specimen of rich red prismatic Quartz crystals whose color comes from iron-inclusions. The crystals are sharp and lustrous, and actually show slight "Fenster" overgrowths and even a bit of a scepter habit. The two tone effect created by the dark (nearly black) iron inclusions against the bright red coloring is fantastic. A little bit of a damage keeps it from being 100% pristine, but it's still in pretty good shape. Overall the piece looks beautiful with a bit of backlighting, and these classic specimens from the Orange River are now considered classics among collectors and dealers. Ex Charlie Key personal collection. Charlie is arguably the most sucessful dealer of the second half of the 20th century, along with being the namesake for TWO mineral species (Keyite and Ludlockite).
