Item Description

A cool red Quartz specimen from this famous Quartz-producing region. Obviously the crystals are included with Hematite (or some other kind of iron oxide) as I have seen from any locality, and the effect is dazzling. The Quartzes, which measure up to 5.1 cm, are actually colorless, but are nearly completely filled with the red inclusions, and actually have a slight "Fenster"-like overgrowth. The Orange River area in South Africa is well known for these specimens. Rarely does one see Quartz crystals with such impactful strong red color as this. I am told that this specimen was actually collected about 10 years ago by a farmer who had no idea what he found. The piece is in decent shape for the material, and despite some broken crystals here and there, several of them are undamaged. Enjoy
