Red Quartz

This is about as red as Quartz can get. Obviously the crystals are included with about as much Hematite (or some other kind of iron oxide) as I have seen from any locality, and the effect is dazzling. The Quartzes, which measures up to 3.2 cm, are actually colorless, and rather gemmy, but one can see distinct red "phantoms" in every one of them. The Orange River area in South Africa is well known for these specimens. I honestly have never seen Quartz crystals with such impactful strong red color as this. I am told that this specimen was actually collected about 10 years ago by a farmer who had no idea what he found. The piece is in decent shape for the size, several of the crystals are undamaged.
