Red gem Tourmaline (Jan. 2015 find)

A stunning, bi-colored, red gem tourmaline from an early-January, 2015 find at the famous Cruzeiro Mine. The gemmy/translucent, luscious body is a pleasing cranberry-red, like famous Jonas Mine tourmalines and the highly lustrous, lightly scalloped, pinacoidal termination is dark cranberry-red. The body also has inclusions of lighter pink tourmaline. Complete all-around and nearly pristine. One termination has a contact with embedded albite, but there is very little actual damage. A trivial bit of edge wear is noted. The crystal really glows, when backlit. Red tourmalines have always been very highly desirable and here is your chance to get a real beauty. 52.31 carats or over 10 grams. This was ONE pocket. The color is AMAZING.
