Item Description

These strange crystals came out of a known gem producing region of Brazil, that was NOT previously known widely for euclase, let alone the world's first red euclase crystals. Needless to say, they surprised people, and were in high demand at the time (2017-18). This is one of the best, most perfect most equant crystals of the find: a gemmy transparent pink morphologically textbook sharp crystal. Euclase is typically a blue silicate mineral associated with Brazilian gem-type localities. Red was unheard-of. Only about 25 pink and red/orange bicolor Euclase specimens recovered in an alluvial deposit in June or July 2018 (as reported in American Mineralogist, 2021, which also attributes the color to trace manganese inclusions). This was purchased at the time they came out from Anton Watzl, for $3500, at Tucson, as he ended up with a choice selection.
