Red Calcite and Calcite in pocket of Amethyst (Meieran Coll.)

Here is a surprise, even to the jaded among us who have seen it all....it is simply unique, beautiful, and you can see for yourself how amazing it is for contrasts of color and crystal shapes! I have seen these hematite-tinted calcites before, but seldom so perfectly placed, and associated with white or colorless calcite in the SAME pocket of deep purple amethysts?!?! The cluster of intergrown hematite/iron-red calcite and clear calcite is 7 cm tall (how does that happen, anyways?!), and the red-orange crystal is perfect, transparent, and gemmy ! It stands 4 cm tall, above the white crystals in its middle (although you can see through them to the red underneath). This is literally the kind of mineral we regard as priceless, as it is unique and simply art. For size, it seems approximately the size of a football but a LOT heavier! (per Google Questions: American Footballs have a length of 11”-11.25” (28-29 cm))
