Item Description
There are a few minerals that are almost exclusively tied to a single locality or area, and Red Beryl is a great example. These beautiful crystals are certainly among the most recognizable, desirable and rarest of gems / minerals from the Western United States. This Beryl variety is one of the great combinations of rarity and beauty in the mineral world. The classic "gooseberry" color crystals have attracted collectors for years, and are now in short supply and high demand. This piece features a classic 1.6 cm, sharp, lustrous, hexagonal prismatic crystal sitting on Rhyolite matrix. The piece is unrepaired, which is important when it comes to these specimens. There is a bit of embedded Rhyolite on the Beryl crystal itself, but it's still in excellent condition, with no major damage that I can see. As I said, it is becoming very difficult to obtain any good pieces / gemstones of Red Beryl on the market these days, and this piece will more than likely end up being a great bargain for somebody. Crystals of this size on matrix are seldom seen in today's market, and we had this one valued at $2,400 in the inventory. From the collection of Colin Manlove.
