Item Description

Some of the finest crystals of Realgar in the world are known from the Jiepaiyu Mine (Shimen Mine) in China, but good faceted stones are not easy to find due to the fact that the species has a hardness of about 1.5 - 2 so it's very difficult to preform and polish without destroying the material. This gorgeous rough and cut set is a wonderful combination of crystallized and faceted Realgar. The intense brilliant red color is what makes this species so attractive to collectors. The specimen features classic, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, wonderful red color monoclinic crystals with only a little bit of damage here and there. The excellent matching gemstone is a fine quality, nearly eye clean "Emerald Step" cut stone that weighs over 4.5 carats! A very good sized stone to match up with this gorgeous mineral specimen. The set is valued at $1200 for quality and the rarity of the faceted gem. PLEASE NOTE: This material is light sensitive, and will alter to Pararealgar if not kept out of the light.
