Item Description

Realgar is an uncommon arsenic antimony sulfosalt, but unlike most metallic minerals, the species is colorful and sometimes GEMMY. When you it comes to crystallized Realgar, the finest known examples are the superb crystals from Shimen, Hunan, China. The astoundingly fine crystallization combined with the enticing fiery gemminess is unmatched in the mineral world. This piece features very gemmy, well-formed, sharp, lustrous, striated, fiery red colored prisms of Realgar measuring up to 1.7 cm, free of matrix. Like many Realgars, this piece shows that iconic glowing color when backlit. The crystals are well-terminated, but there are some small imperfections keeping it from being 100% damage free. A great miniature specimen of these famous, classic crystals. Priced at $1,200 retail.
