Item Description

Highly lustrous steep, sharply terminated bipyramidal wulfenite crystals, to about 1.2 cm, with rich caramel orange-brown color are dramatically festooned on the rounded mounded CABINET matrix. Bipyramidal wulfenite is the rarest crystal habit from the renowned Erupcion Mine at Los Lamentos and this is one of the richest of these old specimens we have seen, with such deep color. Nearly all Los Lamentos wulfenites are tabular or blocky, with a few pseudocubic crystals. A sparkly calcite druse on one side is a fine complement and contrast. In great shape with very few broken crystals for all the crystal density. See the 2003 Mineralogical Record article in Mexico Special Issue III, Vol. 34, No. 6. Old material, wulfenite of this variety came out in the 1960s and 1970s. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum.
