Item Description

Mineral specimens from this obscure Cumbria iron mine are seldom on the market and this is a very rare and showy combination specimen. Rare, gemmy, beta-style, smoky quartz crystals are nicely accented by platy, colorless barite in the sculptural vug lined with specularite hematite in the massive hematite kidney ore matrix. Periphery wear is noted, but is acceptable in this rare combination piece. Rare material recovered prior to 1968 mining operations by miners Joe Grundie and Ernie Schwartzer.
