Rare, sharp Cordierite xl (Carmichael Coll.)

Item Description

Cordierite from this locality sets the standard for the species. Unlike the ugly material from most places, it is actually pretty here - sometimes. The sharply terminated orthorhombic crystal has a waxy brown/olive-green look to the prism surfaces and rests on a matrix of cordierite and quartz. The crystal is complete all-around and pristine. Classic and excellent older material from the Alfred Stevenson and Eugene Carmichael Collections.
