Item Description
Cordierite from this locality sets the standard for the species. Unlike the ugly material from most places, it is actually pretty here - sometimes. The superb, sharp, hexagonal crystal has a waxy brown/olive-green look to the surface of the best specimens, such as this 1.5 cm very aesthetically placed crystal. This crystal even has a bit of gemmy translucence on the edges! This was collected by Robert Whitmore in 1970.
