Item Description
This peculiar CABINET polyhedroid agate specimen is from Parauba, Brazil, which is famous for its distinctive blue-colored tourmaline due to their high copper content. These remarkable agates were first found in 1974 by Odwaldo Monteiro and are all but impossible to obtain these days as the supply has been exhausted for many years. These anomalies of the quartz family are occasionally seen for sale as polished slabs. It is very rare that an intact example, such as this, is seen for sale. Even rarer are the conjoined polyhedroid specimens such as this one. The edgewear is noted, but has very modest impact on the overall striking quality of this unusual agate. There are many hypotheses as to how these are formed, but no two theories are the same. Valued at $500
