Tourmalines from the Otjua Mine, Namibia's finest pegmatite locality, are very seldom on the market today. This is a very sculptural and aesthetic 360-degree small cabinet cluster of five variable length polychrome crystals. The satin luster, well-striated, layered trigonal prisms are gemmy to translucent. The crystal bodies are mainly teal-blue with zones of yellow-green color. Pretty gemmy emerald-green zones lie beneath the lustrous black pinacoidal terminations. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only one small spot of bruising to the termination edge of the large prism and a nearby termination contact, that has no damage, per se. Fine tourmalines were collected here in the 1980s and 1990s, with none since. The locality is considered to be extinct and excellent specimens, such as this only come from recycled advanced collections. 71 grams mass. This came from a small private tourmaline collection that was recently sold off, and remarkably has no repairs. Valued $1500.
