Rare, multi-colored, tanzanites were prominently featured in the recent Merelani Hills article in the Mineralogical Record. This striking, unusually colored, gemmy and lustrous, untreated thumbnail cutie has tri-chroism and dramatic shades of: blue, purple, yellow-green, brown, orange and pink! The C-axis (long vertical axis) photo shows pink flashes, rather than normal red! The zoned-growth in the interior is plainly visible on this glassy crystal. One side is slightly dinged, otherwise it is pristine. A very rare, variably colored tanzanite crystal! With current governmnent export restrictions, the market price is going up! 34.31 carats or nearly 5 grams.valued $900-ish.
