Rare large floater Quartz shard (Bill Larson Coll.)

A VERY RARE, spectacular, large and sculptural pristine floater gem quartz crystal shard from this much less well-known San Diego County pegmatite. One side of the stunning strongly tapered piece has fantastic frosted stepped-growth faces that look like ripples and are accented with a bit of feldspar. The other side is dramatically water-clear with large sharp faces nicely accented with typical stepped-growth and some interesting small scalloped features. Large quartz specimens of this amazing quality are INCREDIBLY RARE from the Carmelita Mine and was probably recovered from the 1970s to 1990s. Specimens, in general, are rare from here, compared to other well-known San Diego County pegmatites. 4.4 pounds or 2.1 kilos mass.
