RARE large Calcite xl (Bowling & Nowakowski Coll.)

Item Description

Calcite specimens are VERY RARE from this well-known limestone quarry, famous for fluorite specimens. This is a killer, large, modified scalenohedron with a gemmy, modified termination. The highly lustrous, translucent, tan to colorless crystal has a gorgeous checkerboard of internal crazing. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only very trivial termination scuffing. The contacting and attachment at the base are noted, but have very minimal impact to the overall significance and importance of this rare crystal.
