Item Description
RARE and spectacular gem Hessonite (orange) grossular garnets from Eden Mills. Gorgeous rich orange gemmy dodecahedrons, to 8 mm, are clustered and scattered on both the front and back of the mounded pyroxene crystal matrix. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 4812 and acquired from well-known Southern Calfornia specimen collector, dealer and collector Norm Dawson in 1966. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Please note, this piece was originally labeled as coming from New Hampshire, but we have updated the locality thanks to an email from Tom Mortimer notifying us that this is most likely from Eden Mills.
