Item Description
Beautiful and classic, lustrous and translucent, pigeons blood-red, RUBY crystals on marble from the classic gem tract of Burma. The striking, aesthetically placed, doubly terminated, large tapered, crystal is 2.2 cm long. It is actually a distorted, elongated ruby of unusual habit. This is a CHOICE specimen from this locale with intense color saturation, great and classic waxy luster, and an attractive contrast to matrix. This full miniature specimen was in a noted collection until a few years ago, when exchanged to me. The previous owner had paid $2500 at the time, in the late 1990s, before a ban on Burmese ruby import to the US. This is certainly the best "spiker" put into this cash flow auction. Enjoy! I could not replace it today for anything shy of a few thousand $$$, IF even one of such habit could be found. Note that this was erroneously described as "Sungate Mine of Vietnam" in an incomplete sentence of the previous text for this item. What that sentence should have said, was : these rubies are more desirable and more intense in color than the modern production from Sungate Mine of Vietnam.
