Item Description
From a classic German locality comes a RARE, relatively large, blue halite specimen. This piece has astounding scattered "electric-blue" translucence! It looks like the very best gemmy azurite or tanzanite when backlit, for color! One face is terminated and the rest are cleavages. Very seldom on the market in this quality - we hav eonly seen smaller crystals 1/4 the size or cleavage fragments. This is older material from the Mullane Collection (built til the 1970s) and comes with a faded The Bradleys label, with an August, 1951 date. Notice the amazing price difference on the label! Over 7 times. One is probably the Bradley's price and the higher is the Mullane price. NOT cheap in the 1960s or 70s, showing that they valued it highly then, too. A fine (not mediocre) $23 piece in 1950 is something like $500-1000 today, the way things have gone with the expanding worldwide mineral market. This is definitely worth in that range, and a rare and gorgeous piece as well.
