Item Description
Rare, bi-colored, tanzanites were prominently featured in the recent Merelani Hills article in the Mineralogical Record. This striking gem specimen has two, hugely different, parallel-growth crystals. Most of the glassy, translucent crystals are pastel yellow-green. The upper, very gemmy portion of the striking, sharply terminated spire displays the classic, 2-way diochroism found in many zoisites: the A-axis faces have pleasing shades of lavender with yellow-green; and the B-axis faces remains yellow-green. Complete all-around and very nearly pristine, with only the most trivial of termination edgewear to the spire. This remains a much in demand, highly representative rarity. 8 grams. Valued at $1000-1200.
