Item Description

This rare nickel arsenide was originally named in 1800s after the famous German chemist and mineralogist, Karl F. Rammelsberg (1812-1899). Pieces from Germany are quite difficult to obtain, as most of them were found many decades ago. The piece features striated groups of metallic grey Rammelsbergite on all sides, with no real matrix to speak of. These specimens are few and far between on the market, and are sought after by rarities collectors. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2361). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020. See the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record ( https://www.mineralogicalrecord.com/pdfs/Kay%20Robertson%20Collection.pdf ), and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017.
