Item Description
Obsidian is a naturally occuring rock (not really a mineral) that ususally resembles Smoky Quartz when it's transparent/translucent. It's actually volcanic glass, and a lot of gem colletors don't have a piece of this material in their collections. The iridescent variety of Obsidian is appropriately named Rainbow Obisidian, and this particular gem is one of the best examples of the material that we've had to offer. This "Freeform Carved Fan Cabochon" cut gem features a beautiful mix of soft sage, soft blue-green, burgundy and golden hues swirling throughout the gem. The colors are best seen in a strong light (sunlight is best) and the stone looks beautiful in person, better than the photos. This stone is 100% NATURAL, and is not one of the artificial glass pieces that have sprung up on the internet. This gem is the real deal, old material. Hard to photograph, as it has a three-dimensional carved design around the base of the stone. Don't miss out on this one! Valued at $261.45 high retail.
