Rainbow Moonstone

Moonstone is one of the most well-known gem quality Feldspars in the gem world. It is said to be the sacred stone of India. Ancient stories tell of how the gem was said to have been embedded in the forehead of the moon god Ganesh at the beginning of creation. This stone radiated moonbeams to earth, which created the gems we know today according to the Hindu mythology. With that said, this particular stone is actually from Malawi and is a wonderful example of the material. What I love is that it's actually FACETED, and not a cabochon, like most Moonstones you'll find on the market. The stone has a gentle silvery-colorless hue with a beautiful "adularescence" / iridescence showing beautiful multi-color flash of peach, golden, pink, blue lavender and green when rotated in the light. We've done our best to illustrate it in the photos, but it's best seen in person. A very attractive gem of this well-known material.
