Item Description
A most unusual and really interesting Quartz specimen from this ancient mineral producing part of Europe. I'm told that these specimens were collected in 2008-2009, and they caught the attention of a lot of collectors and dealers in Europe. The piece hosts many sharp prismatic Quartz crystals which have a really eye-catching, bright copper colored iridescent coating of iron and manganese oxides to create a beautiful overall specimen. The crystals are mostly simple prisms in habit, but some show slight overgrowths on the terminations. A few of the broken crystals on the base reveal that the Quartzes are actually colorless and gemmy inside, so this is not an inclusion, but a complete coverage on the crystals to create a pseudo-"patina" that is almost unheard of for the species. The largest crystal measures 8 mm. If you're a Quartz collector, don't miss out on a piece of this unique and hard to find material. These pieces are no longer being mined, so if you want one, get one now.
