Item Description

A 2.8 cm pink tourmaline is aesthetically set in the side of a gemmy to translucent, glassy and lustrous, partially euhedral sculptural quartz crystal from the famous Himalaya Mine. The quartz is faintly smoky. The glassy, striated, translucent, layered prism has classic "Himalaya pink" color. The pocket clay still embedded on the matte termination highlights some of the pocket formation and the fact that the specimen was never cleaned after being collected by the Larsons. Very interesting in itself, showing how the tourmaline formed AT THE SAME TIME as the quartz somehow, and embedded within each other like the sword in the stone! Ex Bill Larson San Diego County Pegmatite Collection and long on display at his Pala International shop in Fallbrook. Good tourmaline and quartz combinations are uncommon from the Himalaya and this is a fine example.
