Quartz with superb Star Rutile inclusion (polished)

This is simply a spectacular example of the classic combination from Brazil, of rutile included in Quartz. The best of them have a star form lthough it is usually crude or uneven; and the best of those have a really sharp and complete starburst within. To add another level of quality, this is within a WINDOW-CLEAR transparent crystal with none of the usual murkiness caused by either milky quartz itself, or too many rutile inclusions which add clutter and noice to the view. Too many inclusions, and you get no symmetry. Here, we have it all - and a perfectly oriented star inside, 2 inches from tip to tip! This is ppolished, so it is a lapidary object and not a natural termination, but the polished surfaces do reflect the original faces of the termination and growth. The star is complete and perfect within, insulated from harm by the quartz around it. Lastly, this has a great color (more golden hue instead of orange-gold as are so many contemporary specimens), and the contrast of golden rutile to water clear quartz is simply unique in the mineral world - this is exactly what this locality is famous for! We are truly honored to present this specimen from another lot of deaccessions from the collection of Jack Halpern of San Francisco, as featured in the Mineralogical Record, March 2005. He purchased it in the early 1980s from dealer Herb Obodda (label attached, with $1000 price - that was a lot of money at the time for one of these, testifying to the quality in which Obodda regarded it at the time and that it has stood the test of time!). And, I respect Herb's opinion more than most when it comes to quality. He was not wrong. this has stood the test of time and it is just better than modern material, and should be highly valued, perhaps $4000-5000. 121 grams.
