Quartz with sharp phantoms of Chlorite and Hematite

Attractive and lustrous, this single, 7 cm phantomed crystal is said to be from the obscure locality of Tsitondroina in Madagascar. The gemmy Quartz crystal has several, intergrown, Hematite-included Quartzes on one side, but the most striking features are the Chlorite phantoms. This Chlorite gives the upper phantom a bit of depth, and the look of it is simply sublime.The largest phantom is the dense, mid-crystal growth of Chlorites that stands out nicely and visually captures your eye immediately. But the phantom that lies just below the termination is remarkable. Razor-sharp and splendid, it is enhanced by the little bit of Chlorite coating that extends down one of the internal faces from the tip. Recently deaccessed from the Tim Sherburn collection.
