Quartz with Rutile and clay inclusions

Fascinating, shapely and rare included quartz from the Diamantina area of Minas Gerais, well-known for excellent quartz, rutile and rutilated quartz specimens. A striking, very glassy, lustrous, water-clear to translucent, sharply terminated quartz crystal, 6.5 cm tall (frontal view) with enhancing stepped-growth prism faces is jauntily set on the sculptural myriad of smaller quartz crystals. Classic, scattered rutile needles, to 1.8 cm, are included-in and partially project out of the quartz crystal. The RARE inclusions are the impressive yellow-green clay "cloud" below the large quartz termination and the pastel-green clay included at the base of the large prism and nearby smaller crystals. From the Bill Larson Quartz collection case, of approximately 250 specimens, which we bought in 2023. It was a long-term, very diverse mix on display for decades at the Pala International shop as an educational and fun exhibit. It was started back in the late 1970s. An exceptional, very showy and rare included quartz from Diamantina.
