Item Description
Quartz is almost certainly the most "inclusion friendly" gem in the world. You can find more material included inside of Quartz than virtually any other gem material. Recently we've seen some of these interesting Quartz crystals on the market, and while some are labeled as coming from Pakistan, this particular stone is labeled as coming from Afghanistan, though it could be a simple mistake. With that said, it's unique for the fact that it contains hydrocarbon inclusions along with the gas phase from the oil deposit / pocket. This gas phase can be a combination of either water vapor, methane or carbon dioxide, or possibly all three. This "Emerald" cut stone is a completely colorless gem of Quartz, but if you look closely you can see small bits of bright yellow low-density hydrocarbons with scattered specks of denser black bitumen completely frozen inside. If you collect rare gems, inclusion stones or if you just like unusual material, do not pass up this interesting and unique example for your collection.
