Item Description
This is an interesting piece in that it preserves an association rarely seen in any quality worth preserving. Normally, limonite is dissolved away as these are cleaned along with any more typical iron staining, but this has such a beautiful contrast that it was left on, natural, and intact. The stark and dark Limonite contrasts with the shocking gem clarity of the quartz crystals on this small cabinet sized cluster. The limonite is perhaps pseudomorphing a thin layer of ancient pyrite.
