Item Description
Quartz on a non-rock matrix is rare enough from Arkansas mines but this is on a botryoidal limonite which is almost unheard of....and the limonite itself seems to be a pseudomorph replacement after pyrite (James Zigras - personal communication). Unique material from this mine which opened in 1865! Collected by James Zigras in the last few years, Hamilton has produced some unusual material including limonite and adularia, with a mineralogy that seems a bit different than from other Arkansas mines. The large crystal in the middle of this cluster stands straight up, has nice contrast, and is about 2 inches tall.
