Quartz with Iron Oxide (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

A beautiful group of "needle" Quartz crystals measuring up to 2.0 cm long with golden colored inclusions or a coating of iron oxide (the label says it's Hematite) from an undisclosed locality in the Bedretto Valley in the Swiss Alps. The majority of the crystals are pristine, though there are some contacted crystals here and there. Nearly every Quartz specimen I've seen from this valley features white / colorless crystals, so this one truly stands out from the rest with the strong golden color. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
