Item Description

A unique, old-time Swiss quartz specimen from a very obscure locale in Uri. The terminations of the sharp, mostly water-clear quartz crystal are dusted with chlorite. It is a typical Swiss crystal but for one thing that must have puzzled the people who found it : hollow tubes within! The tubes we know now, are caused by the later disolution of another mineral species, probably anhydrite, with which the quartz was intergrown. A previous owner threaded wire through the minute, narrow guage hollows of the crystal to illustrate dramatically the fact that these tubes go all the way through! What time it must have taken! Comes with an 1800s Senft Collection label. Ex Herb Obodda Collection. Valued at $500 for combination rarity and locality, and interest value
