Quartz with Hematite (Specularite) (ex Gary Weaver Collection)

Here we is a beautiful display specimen of Quartz which has from a small find near Marble, Colorado in 1990s according to Robert Stoufer. This small cabinet specimen hosts many sharp, lustrous, well-formed, prismatic hexagonal crystals which have a lovely reddish color which is caused by reddish-brown Hematite (Specularite) inclusions. The piece is in very good shape overall, and if you're a Quartz collector, a Colorado collector or even if you just like interesting inclusion specimens, don't miss out on this one. I've only seen a handful of these over the years, and few were found according to sources. From the collection of Gary Weaver (1944-2019), an electrical engineer who worked for Hughes Aircraft in California. After retiring to Prescott, Arizona in the early 2000s, Gary rekindled his childhood love of minerals, amassing a collection of roughly 2000 specimens, focusing on localities in which he and his wife had lived or visited (Mexico, Peru and the western / southwestern United States).
