Quartz with Hematite phantoms

Numerous striking phantoms of sparkly hematite flakes are dramatically visible within this sculptural, 360-degree, parallel-growth cluster of water-clear to translucent, terminated quartz crystals from the Karur District, Tamil Nadu of southern India. The clusters of smaller parallel-growth and angled quartz crystals at the base are showy accessories. A bit of bruising to the terminations of both of the large quartz crystals, a contact on one side of these two crystals, where another crystal once lay, with only trivial bruising and basal periphery wear are noted. The base has been sawed to enhance display quality. A fascinating, sculptural, rich and highly representative example of hematite-included quartz phantoms from the locale.
