Quartz with Hematite inclusions associated with Epidote (ex Kurt Hefendehl Collection)

A rarely seen piece dating back to the early 2000s from the Kharan District in Balochistan, Pakistan. I remember when these came out, it was a very limited find, and few pieces of this quality exist. Most of the Quartz crystals from this discovery were colorless, but a small number had these reddish Hematite inclusions, as seen on this specimen. The Quartz crystals are sharp and well-formed, with good internal translucency. The largest Quartz measures 2.6 cm long. They are accented by a wonderful rich green colored "sprays" of Epidote, creating a lovely contrast of color. Minimal damage, and certainly better than that majority of what I have seen from this find. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl, a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel.
