Quartz with Hematite inclusions, and Pyrite

Uncommon for the area in such saturated color and quality, this very attractive combination piece is from the Huxu Au deposit in Jiangxi, China (it still produces material today, although less red and complete). The sharp Quartz crystals, where the largest is about 3 cm, are highly translucent with excellent terminations and complex, stepped faces. The Hematite, which both includes the crystals and partially coats the prism faces, imparts a light brick-red color that is just uniform and rich enough to be both pleasant and inviting. Also, there are clusters of botyroidal Pyrite, whose micro crystals add sparkle, interest, and contrast to this cabinet-sized specimen. The aesthetics are quite good, and the apparent rarity of pieces like this from the area make it even more intriguing. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl, a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. Simply a beautiful and unusual specimen!
