Quartz (with Hematite inclusions) and Manganese-bearing Calcite (Hefendehl Coll.)

Item Description

Here is an unusual Quartz piece from old finds in Dalnegorsk showing clear to slightly milky Quartz crystals accentuated by Hematite staining deposited internally just under the tips of each termination. Although it looks brownish from afar, close inspection shows them to be tiny patches of dark red Hematite staining! Patches and plate-like aggregates of pink, Manganese-bearing Calcite have also been deposited preferentially on only one side of some of the Quartz crystals. They are composed of microcrystals that have a nice pastel pink color in daylight and a vibrant red pink in short wave UV!
