Quartz with Hematite inclusions

Item Description

A large, single, milky to translucent Quartz crystal at the interior of this piece is jacketed by a beautiful, opaque, red-orange, later generation of Quartz for wonderful effect. The red-orange to red color of these Orange River Quartz crystals is attributed to a modest amount of microcrystalline Hematite inclusions. The larger, red Quartz crystal measures 5 cm in length and is accented by nearly a dozen, smaller, sidecar crystals around much of the base. These crystals show their top two-thirds encased in the later generation of reddish Quartz with the lower third of them, along with the base of the piece as translucent to milky white Quartz. This is an attractive and very good example of this variety of Quartz from this part of the world! It is, for the size and style, exceptional compared to most others of the same sort.
