Quartz with Hematite coating (ex Shields Flynn Collection)

Item Description

A classic specimen of the well-known Orange River Quartzes featuring multiple highly lustrous, sharp, hexagonal prisms measuring up to 3.1 cm with the characteristic reddish coating of iron oxide (Hematite). The group is free of matrix, and displays beautifully as you can see from the photos. A lot of these pieces can be somewhat dull on the surface, but these crystals are notably lustrous, really good quality. The piece is not completely damage free as there some dings, but it's very showy and eye-catching. Priced at $500 in the inventory. From the Collection of Shields Flynn.
