Item Description
This is a wonderful old-time specimen from the famous Cleator Moor Iron Mines in northern England featuring a stout, smoky colored, very sharp, lustrous, pyramidal crystal of Quartz measuring XXXXXXXX cm sitting on silvery bladed crystals of Hematite ("Specularite"), atop "bubbly" reddish-grey Hematite ("Kidney Ore") matrix. The Quartz itself has a reddish hue due to Hematite inclusions. The piece is in great condition, but the termination is nicked, so it's not pristine.. These pieces are incredibly desirable for those familiar with classic material, and certainly a must have for any fan of old-time Quartz specimens or English minerals. From the collection of Richard ("Rich") A. Kosnar, the well-known mineral collector and dealer from Colorado (1946-2007) and the namesake for the rare zirconium phosphate species, Kosnarite. Rich loved classic minerals from Europe, and actually named his company Mineral Classics for this reason.
