Quartz with Hematite and Chlorite inclusions ex Meieran

Inclusions of hematite are rare enough inside quartz crystals, and this large and dramatic gem quartz point shows not the usual dispersed hematite within, but SHARP crystals perfectly preserved, safely within the quartz! The largest, sharpest crystal is approximately 1.5 cm, as measured from the back, but it looks bigger when seen through the front due to refraction and tricks of the eye. The inclusions are in a vertical row along the back of the crystal, primarily. Freckled patterns of what is probably chlorite, are also included within. Turning the crystal around, you can see a longer, horizontal hematite crystal included that somehow is not visible from the front (again, tricks of the eye, looking through 3 inches of solid GEM quartz, does that!). This complete, terminated, sharp crystal is a rare example of hematite within another mineral, from Pakistan's high alpine-type mountains. These form only in a few places in the world and are rarely seen from Pakistan compared to Brazil or Madagascar. Formerly in the Pakistani suite of the Gene Meieran collection, this several-pound inclusion crystal is a dramatic piece in a showcase and needs little backlighting as it is so clear and clean.
